In Nordic countries people willingly opt for microchips embedded in their skins as alternatives to carry debit/credit cards that also act as access chips to offices, recidenses and gyms.

If world governments really wanted all of us to have chips in our systems there are way more subtle ways than spreading a killer virus and lying about death tolls. This pandemic is real.
